Sweden: Cheap flights there, decent breakfasts, a good weekend off, a friend's birthday, meeting with mates, praying with people I love and hearing from God. Nice one.

Came back to Edinburgh and the air is different, it's becoming the mix of autumn and winter where some days winter wins - things become grey and silvery and other days autumn holds its own. The leaves are turning beautiful.

The sky has been amazing. Layers of cloud and bits of rain leave some wispy and white, others heavy, dark, and blue-grey. The sunlight likes to show off at this time of year, making the most of the low angles and the different textures and tones. Shafts of strong light combine with drawn out pools of diffused light, going crazy with the colours. The sunrise is now getting late enough to get up and watch, and it has definitely been worth it. This morning I missed the colour, but there was some amazing stuff going on in the clouds anyway, and there was a rainbow. I stood leaning into the wind, leaves whipping past, and laughed. Life is so good, and it's also a bit odd.

Take a deep breath and shove the person next to you

Went to a seminar this weekend led by Jim McNeish, corporate psychologist extraordinare. Liked how he occasionally got us to shift a bit and refocus, as above. Maybe not recommended for school settings, but otherwise much better than turning to the person next to you and repeating a comment. In my opinion.

Also engaged over this time in experiential learning - taking the form of round-the-fire chats, and walking through a cycle of change. Also learned some conflict resolution exercises. All quite eye-opening, in fact that may have been the point.

Momentum in my life is on the upturn in the extreme what with the start of university. I've loved really relaxing these last 2 months, but it's time to start working. Especially since today we had the first presentations, and the standard was very high. (One group's presentation looked a bit like a professional website.) Loving it...

Also loving the top floor of the university building (6 storeys up) with views over Edinburgh all the way to the Firth of Fourth. And the small classroom there that is always open, and usually empty.
